2 Vowels will not usually sit side by side
In Turkish there is a rule that you do not put 2 vowels next to each other. When a word ends in a vowel and you are putting an ending on that starts in a vowel you overcome the problem by adding a buffer. Most times the buffer you use will be Y but there will also be occasions when the buffer will be N but we will discuss that later for now lets stay with Y.
Take for example the word miim made up from 2 words mi and im as this is not allowed you add a y in between, making the word miyim, which is far easier to pronounce.
There are a small number of words in Turkish that break this rule but these words are usually words that have been adopted from another language.
Personal Pronouns
Usually you don't need to use personal pronouns such as ben, sen, biz and siz. Sekreterim is enough to say, I am a secretary. you do however need to use onlar when you say they. If you wanted to say they are Turkish you would say onlar Türk. when using the personal pronoun onlar there is no need to use the ending ler.
OK so lets go back to the Verb to be, using the correct endings and the vowel harmony to follow see if you can complete the excersise below. Some have been done for you in order to help you to get started
